The Brunning Family

Genealogical Information

Welcome

This site is the record of a family made up of English, Scottish and Welsh people.  There is one Irish connection, but as this was a first wife to my maternal grandfather and therefore not a blood relation, I have disregarded the Irish ancestry connection - so far!

The information has been presented from my perspective, i.e. a middle-sixties family man with two generations below me.  The information has been collected since 1990 and now covers a wide area with known ‘cousins’ stretching from The USA through the UK to Australia.

While the recording started with my own family - the Brunning's from the Lowestoft area of East Suffolk, it quickly went on to our maternal lines which were Scottish from my grandmother backwards and based in the Montrose area of Eastern Scotland.  Then onto my wife’s ancestors, who were all from Wales - well except for her maternal grandfather who was from London.

We tend to think that we and our subsequent generations are much more mobile than in the past; however, although there is a strong indication that marriages were generally local, long distance travelling was by no means a rare occurrence, particularly after railways started in the early 19th Century.

We are always pleased to hear from you, so do get in touch, even if only to say boo!
